The Afro-Semitic Experience to Perform at ONU

Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the Afro-Semitic Experience on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. in the English Chapel on the University's campus.

With a rich combination of African-American and Jewish heritage, the six-member Afro-Semitic Experience brings soul-warming, inspirational music to the stage. The ensemble will present meaningful musical interpretations based in the rich traditions of gospel, klezmer, nigunim, spirituals, be-bop and swing.

Co-founders Warren Boyd, African-American jazz pianist, and David Chevan, Jewish-American jazz bassist, founded the Afro-Semitic Experience to deliver a positive and meaningful message about Black-Jewish relations. The unique performance brings together stories and music from sacred Jewish and African-American traditions.

This event is free and open to the public; freewill donations will be accepted.
