Pro-life Issue Presentation Scheduled

Dana Cody, executive director of the Life and Legal Defense foundation, will be the featured speaker at a pro-life issue presentation in Pettit College of Law moot court room (129) on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 11:30 a.m.

The event, sponsored by the Christian Legal Society of ONU, is free and open to the public.

Cody has promoted the rights of women and the unborn for 20 years and serves as a judge pro tem for Sacramento County Small Claims and Traffic Court.

After graduating from Western State University law school in 1993, she accepted a post-graduate fellowship with the Rutherford Institute, organized to protect religious liberty and free speech rights. Cody continued as staff counsel for Rutherford’s Western Regional Office. After leaving her position as staff counsel, she went to work as a consultant to the Assembly Education Committee, then chaired by pro-life Assembly Member Steve Baldwin. Assemblyman Baldwin was also on the Assembly Health Committee, which allowed Ms. Cody to consult Mr. Baldwin on life issues. In 1996, Ms. Cody accepted the invitation to serve as a board member of Life Legal Defense Foundation. After leaving her consulting position in January 1997, she accepted the position as Life Legal’s Executive Director. She has also served as an adjunct professor at Trinity Law School in Santa Ana, Calif., having taught a course about the Right to Life and the Law.
