Prominent Entrepreneurs, Business Leaders to Discuss 'Business Success and Lessons Learned Along the Way'

A panel of Ohio Northern University alumni who are prominent entrepreneurs and business leaders will discuss “Business Success and Lessons Learned Along the Way” as part of the ONU College of Business Distinguished Lecture Series in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

The event is free and open to the public.

Members of the panel are:
— Robert C. Smith (’75), president and chief investment officer of Spero-Smith Investment Advisors, Inc. and a civic leader. Prior to joining Spero-Smith Investments, he co-founded his own investment advisory firm. He is also a member and chair of the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System and a member of the board of directors of Motorists Insurance Group of Columbus. He is chairman of the board of trustees of ONU.

—Robert P. Saltsman (’75), who is engaged in the private practice of law in Winter Park, Florida, specializes in the areas of real estate, tax, and corporate mergers and acquisitions. Saltsman is a certified public accountant and a member of the Florida Bar. He is also a member of the board of directors of Nobility Homes, Inc., a Florida public company that manufactures homes.

—Donald R. Pesta, Jr. (’75), co-founder of Pesta, Finnie & Associates which provides tax and business consulting to firms in the Carolinas, began his professional career working for Arthur Anderson & Co. in 1978, and was made a partner in the firm in 1987.

— Stephen A. Malbasa (’75) is a senior vice-president for the American Funds Group. He received his B.A. degree from Ohio Northern University in 1975. He and his wife, an attorney and graduate of ONU in 1975, reside in Cleveland, Ohio and Venice, Calif.
