Democracy in Africa Topic for Ohio Northern Speaker
"Progress on Democracy in Africa," will be the topic of a presentation by Dr. Jean Marie Kamatali at 4 p.m., Feb. 1 in Ohio Northern University's Pettit College of Law.
Dr. Kamatali is the former dean of the Faculty of Law at the National University of Rwanda in Africa. He taught courses such as constitutional law, public international law, international humanitarian law and European law.
Dr Kamatali received his Doctor of Law from Karl-Franzens Universitat-Graz,Austria, in 1998. He received his Masters of Arts on International Peace Studies from University of Notre Dame, Indiana, in June 2004. He was also the national project coordinator for the Danish Center for Human Rights Law at the Law Faculty. Currently he is working on a project, sponsored by the International Criminal Court, on violations of human rights in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
