ONU Alumni Jazz Band to Perform

Feb 12, 2007

The Ohio Northern University Alumni Jazz Band will present a concert on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Ohio Northern University.

The concert will feature musical selections that pay tribute to the late Maynard Ferguson.

The Alumni Jazz Band was founded in 1991 by Dr. Edwin L. Williams as a way to showcase some of ONU's best jazz band alumni. The campus jazz bands have always held campus-wide auditions and the members have come from many different colleges of the University, including Arts and Sciences, Law, Pharmacy, Business and Engineering.

This concert has become an annual event that's fun for the musicians as well as the audience. "The best of the best" gather to reminisce, rehearse and ultimately present a concert proving that no matter what your vocation, music is still the universal language.

Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for students and senior citizens and $5 for children 12 and under. The Freed Center box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Phone orders are accepted with MasterCard, VISA or Discover by calling (419) 772-1900.
