ONU Men's Chorus Slates Spring Tour
The Ohio Northern University Men's Chorus will present its second annual spring concert tour from Thursday, Feb. 22 to Sunday, March 4. The home concert will be Wednesday, March 7 at 8 p.m. in Presser Hall.
The 56-voice choir is under the direction of Professor Dennis L. Kratzer, director of choral activities and associate director of opera.
The 2007 spring tour will include church, high school and university concerts in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. Associate conductor for the choir is Josh Voll, junior music education major from Bluffton, Ohio, with senior music composition major Michael Oberhauser from Maumee, Ohio, and junior music performance major Adam VonAlmen from Lima, Ohio, serving as assistant conductors. Accompanist for the choir is freshman engineering major Adam Fahncke from Wapakoneta, Ohio.
Among the selections in this year's musical program are Cox's "Touching Shoulders," spirituals "Shine on Me" by Dilworth and "Heaven" by Thomas, and Knecht's "Manly Men," among other choral selections. Rounding out the concert will be light-hearted arrangements of "Barbara Ann," "Goodnight Sweetheart," and "My Girl," as well as traditional pieces such as Dupue's "Sing dem Herrn," and the "ONU Hymn."
The following week, Sunday, March 11 at 4 p.m., the ONU Men's Chorus will be joined by the 125-voice internationally known BGSU Men's Chorus for a combined concert at the ONU Freed Center for the Performing Arts.
