Distinguished alumni honored
Four ONU graduates received the Distinguished Alumni Awards presented by the ONU Alumni Association during a banquet on May 31. The awards, recognizing outstanding service and loyalty, were presented to Jason Duff, BSBA ’05, James Gallagher, JD ’79, Michael Grandillo, BA ’79, and Steven Roebuck, BS ’70. The banquet was part of Northern’s 2014 Alumni Weekend, held May 30 to June 1.
Celebrating the life of Dr. Charles “Chuck” Johnson
A Celebration of Life for Dr. Charles “Chuck” Johnson will be held Saturday, June 14, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Inn at Ohio Northern University. A reception and fellowship will immediately follow at the Inn.

Service-Learning article published
Matthew A. Phillips, assistant professor of accounting, is co-author with Andrew G. Bashore, BSBA '13, of an article published in the spring issue of the Journal of the North American Management Society. Titled, “Service-Learning as a Practical Approach to Teaching Auditing,” the article says, “Business pedagogy can be more effective for students and business through a hands-on, practical approach rather than traditional lectures.”
Book to be published
"Constitutional Morality and the Rule of Law: Norms, Structure, and the Problem of Power," written by Bruce Frohnen, ONU professor of law, and George W. Carey, late professor of government at Georgetown University, is under contract to be published by Harvard University Press.
Presents at conference
Deidre Keller, associate professor of law, presented "Property and Persons: Some Preliminary Thoughts on Inherent Inalienability," at the annual conference of the Association of Law Property and Society at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
Altstaetter named Best Actor
Dean Altstaetter, coordinator of outreach recruitment and enrollment advisor in the Admissions Office, was recently honored for his work in the Brent Hazelton production, "Liberace - Meet the Man Behind the Grand.”
