Celebrating the life of Dr. Charles “Chuck” Johnson
A Celebration of Life for Dr. Charles “Chuck” Johnson will be held Saturday, June 14, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Inn at Ohio Northern University. A reception and fellowship will immediately follow at the Inn.
Johnson passed away unexpectedly, following a massive stroke, on the afternoon of March 13, 2014, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
Johnson retired from the University in 2001, earning the rank of Professor Emeritus in Communication Arts upon retirement. He earned a B.A. from California State University at Long Beach and a Ph. D. from Purdue University. He joined the University in 1977 as an instructor in Communications Arts, was promoted to assistant professor in 1981, associate professor in 1988 and professor in 1996. Johnson was the coach of the University speech team from 1977-1995. He held the Eleanor H. and Robert W. Biggs Chair in Arts and received the College of Arts and Sciences Excellent Teaching Award in 1983-84.
