President's Leadership Dessert recognizes students

The annual President’s Leadership Dessert, celebrating ONU student leaders and their accomplishments, presented awards to individuals and organizations on April. 30.
The Debow Freed Award for Outstanding Student Leadership was presented to one male and one female from each undergraduate class. Students are nominated for the award in recognition of their positive leadership in the campus community. They receive a monetary award and their names are added to a plaque in the McIntosh Center.
First year awards went to Rebecca Lifer, a biology major from Shelby, Ohio, and Andrew Mitcham, a pharmacy major from Warren, Ohio.
Second year honors went to Trish Hagar, an accounting major from Frederick, Pa., and David Reeping, an engineering education major from Richfield, Ohio.
Third year awards went to Alexandria Beehler-Evans, an accounting major from Bellefontaine, Ohio, and Joseph Railey, a history major from Muncie, Ind.
Fourth year honors went to Marian (Mary Beth) Donahoe, a theatre arts/musical arts major from Lakewood, Ohio, and Joshua Bryan, a civil engineering major from Coraopolis, Pa.
The Alice-Kay Hilderbrand Student Organization of the Year Award was also presented. First place went to Habitat for Humanity. Runner up was the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists and second runner up was the Leader’s Council and Student Planning Committee. Each organization receives a monetary award and the names are added to a plaque in the McIntosh Center.
Guest speaker for the event was Dr. Kelly Jennings-Yeoman, partner in Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, and legal counsel to Ohio Northern University.
