ONU to dedicate Pharmacy Skills and Drug Information Centers
The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy will hold a dedication ceremony for the Pharmacy Skills and Drug Information Centers in the Robertson-Evans pharmacy building on Friday, Nov. 9, at 1:30 p.m.
Located on the first floor of the Robertson-Evans pharmacy building, the renovated Pharmacy Skills Center offers approximately 2,400 square feet of practice areas next to the remodeled Drug Information Center. With a commercial-like entry, the facility recreates the atmosphere of pharmacy retail and clinical practice.
New signage inside the center highlights the relationship between ONU and Lexi-Comp, Inc., the college's drug information provider, signifying a strong commitment to continued excellence in pharmacy practice.
Dr. Jon Sprague, dean of the ONU Raabe College of Pharmacy said, "The Pharmacy Skills Center will give our students the foundation required to provide top-quality patient care. The students will learn not only the concepts for appropriate pharmacist-to-patient interactions, but also the much-needed complementary skills in MTMS, drug information and compounding, just to name a few."
The space is set up in six pods, each of which can accommodate four students. The pods simulate a compounding pharmacy, a patient counseling area, a physical assessment area and an over-the-counter retail facility. Ceiling-mounted cameras allow the simulated patient contacts to be recorded for later evaluation.
