Reid takes part in panel

A panel representing the Technology Student Association (TSA) was invited to present a session on the TEAMS competition entitled "TEAMS: Fostering Personal Growth, Leadership, and Opportunities in Technology, Innovation, Design, and Engineering" at the ITEEA conference in Orlando, Fla.

Ken Reid, engineering education at ONU and a member of the board of directors for TSA joined Tom Bach, a member of the TSA advisory board and TSA project manager Sandy Honour in a presentation of the value of hosting a TEAMS competition from a university perspective or becoming a TEAMS coach for high school or middle school teachers. Ohio Northern has consistently been one of, if not the, largest competition sites for TEAMS with about 450 participating students each year. Over 8,000 students participated in the TEAMS event nationwide in 2013.

The 2014 TEAMS challenge featured engineering problems addressing issues with America's infrastructure. The problem sets were developed by a team of professors including Bryan Boulanger, associate professor of civil engineering at ONU, with the overall development coordinated by Ken Reid and Sandy Honour. A team of ONU engineering students was instrumental in helping with a review of the entire content during the development of the materials.
