ONU Academy of Student Pharmacists to hold Heartburn Awareness Challenge

The Ohio Northern University Academy of Student Pharmacists will hold its first Heartburn Awareness challenge at Rite Aid in Ada on Nov. 1 from 5 to 9 p.m. to kick off Heartburn Awareness Month.

The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy chapter of the American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) is participating in the Heartburn Awareness Challenge for the 2007-2008 school year. Operation Heartburn is a patient outreach project that focuses on patient awareness and education of heartburn. ASP members, supervised by ONU faculty and licensed pharmacists, will participate in education events throughout the Northwest Ohio community, focusing on Ada, Findlay and Lima, Ohio. At these events, student pharmacists will discuss with heartburn sufferers optimal lifestyle and medication changes to help the disease.

The ONU ASP chapter has scheduled several other challenges throughout the area. Additional events are scheduled for Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ray's Supermarket in Lima, Nov. 27 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Primrose Retirement Community in Findlay, and Dec. 3 through 6 from 3 to 6 p.m. at ReStore in Ada.
