Ohio Northern University presents ‘The Things They Carried’
The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents “The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 9:30 a.m.
A pre- and post-show interactive discussion will be held, during which audience members can explore themes such as ethics, making choices and violence. The content of the performance is appropriate for high school audiences and older.
Developed and premiered at Playhouse Square in Cleveland in collaboration with O’Brien, “The Things They Carried” leads the audience through five short stories from his book, “The Things They Carried,” a collection of related stories about a platoon of American soldiers in the Vietnam War. With original cello music as underscoring, the audience lays witness to the complex issues of war and the universal struggle of the soldier.
Tickets for this event are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, $10 for ONU faculty and staff, and $5 for children and students. The Freed Center box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Phone orders are accepted with American Express, MasterCard, VISA or Discover by calling 419-772-1900.
