English department welcomes poet Jonterri Gadson
ONU’s Department of English completes its 2013 Fall Readers series with poet Jonterri Gadson in the Elzay Gallery of Art on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Artists Against Hunger luncheon, Nov. 16
The Ohio Northern University Department of Art and Design will hold its fourth annual Artists against Hunger luncheon in the Wilson Art Gallery on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m. The Artists Against Hunger luncheon offers the community an opportunity to give back in exchange for a lunch and a handcrafted ceramic bowl made by students from Ohio Northern University and Hardin County.
‘The Faces of Lee Harvey Oswald’
Author Scott Johnson will discuss his book, “The Faces of Lee Harvey Oswald: The Evolution of an Alleged Assassin,” in Ohio Northern University’s McIntosh Ballroom on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The event, sponsored by ONU’s Department of History, Politics and Justice and ONU’s Cultural and Special Events committee (CASE), is free and open to the public. Veterans honored
On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, ONU, the Village of Ada and VFW Post 9381 participated in a wreath-laying ceremony on the ONU campus. Veterans and current members of the military were honored at the ceremony and at the lunch which followed.
Luke Sheets, assistant professor of art, has had work selected to be included in “The Cup: An interpreted Object” exhibit at The Local Gallery in Goshen, Ind. The exhibit is open Nov. 1 through Dec. 2.
Dr. Nesreen Alsbou, visiting assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, is coauthor of an article, “Analysis of Priority R-ALOHA (PR-ALOHA) Protocol,” published in the May 6, 2013, edition of Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing. Her co-authors are Sylvain Prigent and Hazem H. Refai of the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Okla.
MLK Essay Contest
In honor of Dr. King’s birthday and the 50th Anniversary of his “I Have a Dream” speech, Ohio Northern University is sponsoring an essay contest. ONU undergraduate and graduate students and Ada high school students are invited to enter the competition.
Student presents research
David Reeping, a sophomore in engineering education from Richfield, Ohio, presented "Changing Perceptions: Do Engineering Activities Make a Difference in K-12 Environments?" at the 2013 Frontiers in Education conference in Oklahoma City, Okla.
