The Gap Test for Randomness
Abstract: A pseudo-random number generator is a computer program that generates a sequence of numbers. These numbers should "look random" and "behave like random numbers." There are various tests of randomness used to see if the generated sequence appears to behave in a non-random fashion. We discuss one such test - the Gap Test. We perform a gap test on MatLab's random number generator.
