Estell on conference organizing committee

John K. Estell, professor of computer science and computer engineering, has been named to the organizing committee for the conference, “The Future of MOOCs and Turbocharged Technologies in STEM Education,” to be held in June, 2014, at San Jose State University in San Jose, Calif.

Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the goals of the conference are to discuss the future of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) and other emerging educational technologies in STEM higher education, to understand the role of MOOCs in modern academia in STEM fields, how to best introduce them into a university setting, and how they may supplement traditional and flipped STEM classrooms. Estell currently serves as chair of the Computers in Education Division of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).
