Student-run publications are a unique feature of the English department. Besides providing hands-on experience with writing, editing and publishing, these publications also give upperclassmen leadership opportunities as editors.
Polaris: Journal of Literature and the Arts is Ohio Northern University's literary journal that publishes selected student submissions including works of poetry, fiction, nonfiction and artwork from writers and artists submitting nationally. Dr. Jennifer Moore advises the Polaris staff and co-editors include Lucas Campbell and Kelsi Rupersberg.
This year, our departmental newsletter has transitioned and is now available in print and website editions. Created entirely by our students, the newsletter highlights the happenings of English department. By the end of the year, students involved with this publication will be skilled in several aspects of newsletter and small magazine publication, including: interviewing for feature stories, taking high-quality photographs, writing interesting articles and proficently using Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign and WordPress. Dr. Druann Bauer advises this publication.
