Mathematical statistics major passes actuarial exams
Hannah Barnaba, a mathematical statistics major in the class of 2013, has passed the first two of four examinations necessary to become a fellow of the Society of Actuaries. The exams covered the topics of probability and financial mathematics. In addition to passing the examinations, prospective actuarial fellows must take four courses in economics at the master’s level.
Barnaba is from Findlay, Ohio. She finished her course work at ONU in the fall of 2012 and has obtained a full-time actuarial position with American Modern Insurance Group. She was mentored in her preparations for the actuarial exams by Dr. Ryan Rahrig of ONU’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
