Greeks honored at conference

ONU’s Greek community received a number of honors at the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values’ Central Fraternal Leadership Conference, held Feb. 7-9, 2013, in Indianapolis, Ind., in conjunction with the National Black Greek Leadership Conference.

Representing ONU were Allie Fay, Panhellenic Council (PHC) vice president of recruitment; Angela Chu, PHC vice president of scholarship; Kaelyn Porvasnik, PHC vice president of public relations; Shelby Core, chapter delegate; Kelsey Jeanne Johnson, chapter delegate; Liz Weitzel, chapter delegate; Billy Maiden, Interfraternity Council (IFC) president; Pat Helman, IFC vice president of risk management; Andrew Chemski, IFC vice president of public relations; Tyler Reams, chapter delegate; Joni Wiley, graduate assistant for the Office of Student Involvement; and Jen Lambdin, director of the Office of Student Involvement.

The PHC entered eight categories of the Sutherland Division I, for councils with two to four chapters in the council, and was awarded outstanding achievement in all eight categories:

  • Academic Achievement
  • Council Management
  • Leadership & Educational Development
  • Membership Recruitment
  • Philanthropy & Community Service
  • Public Relations
  • Risk Reduction & Management
  • Self Governance and Judicial Affairs

IFC entered six categories for the Jellison Division I, for councils with two to six chapters, and received outstanding achievement award in four categories:

  • Council Management
  • Leadership & Educational Development
  • Philanthropy & Community Service
  • Risk Reduction & Management

In addition, Joni Wiley and Pat Helman entered the Order of Omega Case Study completion. They finished first in their group, one of three, and were awarded $250.

Jen Lambdin served as a judge for the Order of Omega Case Study completion, judging a different group.
