McManus presents paper

Eva McManus, Ph.D, professor of English, presented “’You would pluck out the heart of my mystery’: Using RSC’s Pan-African Julius Caesar and ASC’s Twelfth Night to Define Essential Qualities of Shakespeare’s Drama" at the 36th Annual Ohio Valley Shakespeare Conference 2012, held Oct. 18-20 at Marietta College.

Her paper incorporated experiences with an ONU Shakespeare class field trip to the Blackfriars Theater, the American Shakespeare Company, in Staunton, Va., and her sabbatical experience seeing two plays in London during the 2012 Olympics, a traditional production of "Henry V" at the Globe and a modern Pan-African version of Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar."

McManus also attended the editorial board meeting of the online journal "Selected Papers of the Ohio Valley Shakespeare Conference," for which she is a founding member and a peer reviewer. “We introduced a new combination of print and online formats, having contracted with the online publication service LuLu for print copies of entire editions while also showcasing a total revision of our website to make access to individual articles simpler and content clearer,” she explains.
