University Photographers' Association of America

The Monthly Image Competition (MIC) of the University Photographers' Association of America started in 2004 as way for members to share photographs they had made, in friendly competition. University of Houston photographer Jeff Shaw originated the idea and the competition has grown from a few images in the early days to over 300 monthly entries. Throughout the life of the competition, manufactures have offered prizes for the Best of Show each month, and for the overall winner at the end of the year.

A total of 51 university photographers submitted a total of 251 photos in the December, 2012, competition with ONU's Ken Colwell receiving best of show. "The ladies on the volleyball team deserve all of the credit for this image. They came up with a great idea and then contacted me to help make it happen," Colwell says.
