Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the 18th annual Holiday Spectacular at the Civic and Convention Center in Lima, Ohio, on Friday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m.

One element in the success of ONU’s Prison Management Certificate Program (PMCP) is the English for Specific Purposes (ESP) program and the time, effort and expertise provided by its faculty, says Dr. Ellen Wilson, program coordinator for PMCP.

Kofi Nsia-Pepra presents paper at International Studies Conference
Kofi Nsia-Pepra, assistant professor of political science, presented a paper,  “Legal Analysis of ECOMOG’s Legitimacy to Forcefully Intervene in Ivory Coast to Restore Democracy,” Nov. 2 at the International Studies Association Midwest Conference, held in St. Louis, Mo.

Article published in JP Journal of Algebra, Numbers theory and Applications
An article titled "On a Class of Solvable Recurrences with Primes" co-authored by Dr. Mihai Caragiu, ONU professor of mathematics, Dr. Alexandru Zaharescu, professor of mathematics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Dr. Mohammad Zaki, ONU assistant professor of mathematics, appeared in JP Journal of Algebra, Number Theory and Applications.

Boyadzhiev publishes article

Khristo Boyadzhiev, professor of mathematics, has co-authored the article, “Series with Hermite polynomials and applications” in the Hungarian mathematics journal Publicationes Mathematicae Debrecen.

Professor presents at the Statistics in Sports conference
On Sept. 28, 2012, Dr. Mihai Caragiu, professor of mathematics, presented the talk "Some explicit examples of paradoxical tournaments" at the fall conference devoted to Statistics in Sports held at Miami University.

Professor speaks at the mathematics colloquium

On Oct. 31, 2012, Dr. Mihai Caragiu, professor of mathematics, presented the invited talk "Beyond High School Science Fairs: The Senior Capstone Project" at the University of Findlay's Mathematics Colloquium.

Printing Services honored
ONU’s Printing Services received a First Place - Direct Mail/Personalization award from MGI at their inaugural GRAPH EXPO Applications Gallery held in Chicago in October. The printed items were 10 versions of the Homecoming postcards printed and addressed to nine specific alumni years as well as the general version.

Dr. Zank presents paper

At the 2012 CMS National Conference, Nov. 15-18 in San Diego, Calif., Dr. MJ Sunny Zank presented a paper titled “Genji and Gagaku: Traditional Japanese Music in Contemporary Animation.”

Students honored by Financial Executives International Toledo Chapter
Two students from Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments at the Financial Executives International (FEI) Toledo Chapter Students Awards Night in Perrysburg, Ohio, on Nov. 8. Robert Roll, a senior accounting and finance major from Gahanna, Ohio, and Austin Price, a Master of Professional Practice in Accounting candidate from Tiffin, Ohio, were among 14 students honored at the event.

Pharmacy honored at NCPA national convention
The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy student chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) was honored with a trio of chapter awards at the 114th annual NCPA Convention and Trade Exposition in San Diego in October. Two ONU pharmacy scholarship recipients also were recognized at the event.

Mathematics Major recognized twice in The College Mathematics Journal
Thomas Steinberger, a junior from Waynesfield, Ohio, advised by Dr. Mohammad Zaki, was recognized twice in The College Mathematics Journal.

ONU chapter of Tau Beta Pi inducts Kenny

Robert Kenny, vice president and general manager with General Cable, was inducted into the Ohio Iota chapter of Tau Beta Pi at Ohio Northern University as an eminent engineer during a ceremony held Nov. 4. Kenny graduated from Ohio Northern with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering in 1988. Eighteen ONU undergraduates also were initiated into the Ohio Iota chapter, which was founded in 1973.

Help the future of arts education! SNAAP Survey open now
Ohio Northern University is participating in the 2012 Strategic National Arts Alumni (SNAAP) survey – a one-of-a-kind survey that explores the lives of arts alumni nationwide. ONU alumni completing the survey this fall will have access to a website to see how their educational and career experiences compare with alumni across the country. See where other arts graduates live, where they work, what they earn and how their arts educations have influenced their lives. Arts alumni who graduated but have not yet received an email invitation to complete the survey should go to snaap.indiana.edu to take the survey.
