Turner named Ada’s Distinguished Citizen of the Year
James E. Turner, a 1963 graduate of Ohio Northern University’s College of Pharmacy, former Ohio Northern University professor and former owner of Gardner’s Pharmacy in Ada, was named Ada’s Distinguished Citizen of the Year at the 47th annual Town and Gown Banquet at Ohio Northern University on Monday, Nov. 5.

18th annual Holiday Spectacular

Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the 18th annual Holiday Spectacular from Thursday, Nov. 15, through Saturday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. There will be a matinee performance on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. In addition, there will be performances at the Civic and Convention Center in Lima, Ohio, on Friday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m.

Miss Ohio 2012 Elissa McCracken Send-off Celebration
Enjoy an exciting afternoon of performances by ONU's own Miss Ohio 2012 Elissa McCracken and fellow pageant contestants and preview items of her Miss America wardrobe in a special send-off celebration, at 4 p.m., Dec. 9 at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are now on sale.

Fenton conducts workshop in Kosovo
Professor Howard Fenton, director of the Democratic Governance and Rule of Law LL.M. Program at the College of Law, conducted a workshop Oct. 27 and 28 in Pristina, Kosovo, for lawyers from the Office of the President and the Legal Department of the Kosovo National Assembly.

Dr. Robert Alexander, professor of political science and chair of the Department of History, Politics and Justice at Ohio Northern University, talks about what happens after the Presidential ballots are counted.  

Statistics faculty present at Miami University's ‘Statistics in Sports’ conference
Ryan Rahrig and Laurence Robinson, assistant professors of mathematics and statistics, presented a paper at the recent 40th Miami University Mathematics and Statistics Conference.

Civil engineering students receive scholarships
Two Ohio Northern University civil engineering students were each awarded a $500 scholarship from the Toledo Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) on Monday, Nov. 5.

Mathematics and statistics students present at Miami University conference
Mathematics and mathematical statistics majors, Emily Barbee, a senior from Kingwood, Texas; Hannah DePriest, a senior from Findlay, Ohio; Johnathan Neville, a sophomore from Sidney, Ohio; James Rader, as sophomore from Findlay, Ohio, and Joanna Snyder, a senior from Fort Recovery, Ohio, presented papers at the Pi Mu Epsilon Student Section of the recent 40th Miami University Mathematics and Statistics Conference.  

ONU researchers get noticed at the Society of Neuroscience annual meeting
Ten past and present Ohio Northern University research assistants traveled to the Big Easy last month to present at Neuroscience 2012.

Astronomy Club to host Leonid Meteor Shower event
The ONU Astronomy Club will host a Leonid Meteor Shower event for the public from 8 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, at the ONU Observatory. The Leonid meteors originated in the Comet Temple-Tuttle. Although telescopes are not needed to see meteors, the ONU telescopes will be turned on and tracking various deep sky objects, the crescent moon and planets like Uranus and Jupiter.

College of Pharmacy honors three with distinguished alumni award
Ohio Northern University’s Raabe College of Pharmacy honored three alumni with Distinguished Alumni Awards on Oct. 31. This is the sixth year that Distinguished Alumni Awards have been presented by the Raabe College of Pharmacy. Sen. David Burke, a 1990 graduate, Hanley Wheeler, a 1982 graduate, and Suzanne Eastman Wuest, a 1974 graduate, were recognized for their outstanding career accomplishments and their contributions to ONU.

Help the future of arts education! SNAAP Survey open now
Ohio Northern University is participating in the 2012 Strategic National Arts Alumni (SNAAP) survey – a one-of-a-kind survey that explores the lives of arts alumni nationwide. ONU alumni completing the survey this fall will have access to a website to see how their educational and career experiences compare with alumni across the country. See where other arts graduates live, where they work, what they earn and how their arts educations have influenced their lives. Arts alumni who graduated but have not yet received an email invitation to complete the survey should go to snaap.indiana.edu to take the survey.
