Casey named Teacher of Year
Dr. Rebecca L. Casey, associate professor of music, has been awarded the OMTA (Ohio Music Teachers Association) State Certified Teacher of the Year for 2012 as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, for "recognition of excellence in piano instruction and dedication to OMTA/MTNA." She will be honored at the OMTA/MTNA state convention in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012. Casey is head of the keyboard area in the Music Department.
OhioMTA was founded in 1879 and is affiliated with a national organization called Music Teachers National Association, which was founded in 1876 and is America's oldest professional music teachers organization. Membership includes independent music teachers, college faculty members, students and concert artists. The organization’s goals are to offer a variety of opportunities for the musical development of students such as recitals, festivals, and master classes and to nurture the professional growth of teachers through local programs and workshops, and at state and national conventions. Membership includes teachers of every instrument and voice.
