Biology alums to speak during Physical Therapy Month

In recognition of October as Physical Therapy Month, two recent graduates, Laura Vuyk, BS’08, and Joshua Salsbury, BS ’12, will be speaking to ONU students.

On Oct. 17 Vuyk will be speaking about her undergraduate, graduate and work experiences at 7 p.m., in Mathile 112.

On Oct. 25, Salsbury will present “Surviving Your First Year of PT School” at 7 p.m. in Mathile 112.

Vuyk graduated from ONU with high distinctionin the pre-physical therapy program.  She finished her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at The University of Toledo in 2011. Since earning her degree and passing her licensure test, Vuyk has been employed as a full-time physical therapist at Kingston Care Center of Sylvania. Recently, she also started working one day a week at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee.  She has been serving the older adult population in sub-acute, long term and outpatient settings and her overall career goal is to attain a manual therapy certification and work in an outpatient orthopedic setting.

Salsbury graduated magna cum laudein in ONU’s pre-physical therapy program.  He is currently a member of the DPT Class of 2015 at The Ohio State University, where he recently completed his first semester and is currently in the middle of his orthopedic curriculum. His interests in physical therapy include sports medicine and outpatient orthopedic settings.
