ONU Blood Drive

Ohio Northern University is hosting a Red Cross blood drive on Monday, October 15, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. in the McIntosh Activities Room. Please take a few minutes to donate the gift of life.

Blood Facts
Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood.
More than 44,000 donations are needed every day.
A total of 30 million blood components are transfused each year in the U.S. (2006).
The average red blood cell transfusion is approximately three pints.
Type O blood is most often requested by hospitals.
The blood used in an emergency is already on the shelves before the event occurs.
A single car accident victim can require as many as 100 pints of blood.

There are two opportunities to make a difference. You can donate blood or volunteer at the drive.

To donate, call 1-800-REDCROSS or sign up online at redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code “ONU” to receive credit for one hour of community service. Of course, walk-in donations are always welcome.

To volunteer at the drive, please sign up online. Volunteering consists of sitting at the registration table and assisting both the donors and the Red Cross Staff. Volunteering also counts as one hour of community service. If you would like to count these hours, please email the Red Cross Blood Drive coordinator Albert Bui.

Come to give blood and enter to win a pair of tickets to an OSU home football game and the OSU-Michigan game! (It’s okay, ONU is finished playing by then.)
