President Emeritus DeBow Freed honored by Military Academy
Dr. DeBow Freed, Ohio Northern University president emeritus, was recently honored with the dedication of a room at the historic Thayer Hotel on the campus of the United States Military Academy at West Point.



Allison is certified geriatric pharmacist
Jeffery C. Allison, professor of pharmacy practice, has successfully completed the examination to become a Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (CGP).


Professor to speak at national pharmacy conference
Jenelle Sobotka, professor and endowed chair of pharmacy practice, will deliver the closing session speech at the Texas Pharmacy Association’s Rxperts Conference and Expo in The Woodlands, Texas, on July 26-29.



Reid published in the Journal of STEM Education
Dr. Ken Reid, program director of engineering education and director of first-year engineering, has published an article in the Journal of STEM Education: Innovations and Research. 

Reid and Baumgartner publish book chapter
Dr. Ken Reid and Dr. Eric Baumgartner of the T. J. Smull College of Engineering have published a chapter in the book "Advancing the STEM Agenda: Quality Improvement Supports STEM."  

Article accepted for publication
Jo Ann Scott, professor of political science, is co-author of an article accepted for publication by the Atlantic Law Journal. The article, titled "Enhancing Critical Thinking Skills Through Mock Trial," is co-authored by Daniel J. Herron and Ruth Wagoner.

Chemistry article published
An article by ONU faculty, students and alumni is being published in the August, 2012, edition of Tetrahedron Letters, the international journal for the rapid publication of all preliminary communications in organic chemistry.

Courtney named to Chamber of Commerce Board
Justin Courtney, director of residence life and interim director of career services, has been elected to the board of directors of the Ada Chamber of Commerce.

Printing Services adds new digital press
With the addition of a MGI Meteor multi-substrate digital press, Ohio Northern University has been able to streamline operations, improving overall efficiency and keeping the majority of printing work in-house.

Pharmacy students named to ASHP advisory groups
Two students from Ohio Northern University’s Raabe College of Pharmacy, Calvin Ice and Lauren Rupp, were appointed to prominent national positions within the student committees of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).

Pharmacy student places at Drug Information annual meeting
Megan Bensi, a fifth-year pharmacy student from Kirkland, Ohio, was awarded third place for her poster presented at The Drug Information Association’s 48th annual meeting held in Philadelphia, Pa., June 24-28. 

SME merit scholarships awarded
Three students in technological studies, Kyle D. Raber, Levi J. Brown and Nathan H. Evans, have been awarded the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) merit scholarships for 2012-2013.
