ONU receives Rural Business Enterprise Grant
The United States Department of Agriculture has awarded the entrepreneurship program at Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration a Rural Business Enterprise Grant (RBEG) to support small business growth and development in a four-county area surrounding ONU. The grant totals $92,000.

ONU to induct six into Athletic Hall of Fame
Six members of the Ohio Northern University athletics family will be inducted into the University’s Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 5, as part of ONU’s Homecoming weekend. They are Brandi Nicole (Stover) Bruns, Beth Ann (Breudigam) Gribler, Nancy Jean (Shoemaker) Keith, Brad Ross Longberry, Robert Garner Lydic and John Martin Wechter.

Ada Civic Engagement Day coming Aug. 21
Community organizations in Ada are being invited to register their wish list of projects for ONU's students to take on during the first Ada Civic Engagement Day, just before fall classes begin.

David CragoSale of book benefits ONU's Northern Fund
A few autographed copies of Dream No Little Dreams by Dr. Clayton L. Mathile, BA '62, Hon. D. '91, ACIT '09, are available in the ONU Book Store. Proceeds from the books go to the ONU Northern Fund which provides support for University operating costs, scholarships, financial aid, faculty research and campus improvements. Mathile was the guest speaker at this year's undergraduate commencement.

Road work detours campus traffic
West Lincoln Avenue will remain closed until Sept. 1, 2012, due to the Lincoln Avenue Phase II project. Detour signs have been placed on Main Street directing traffic to the sports and science complexes. Check the campus map for details.

‘Parable of the Pig Iron’
Dr. Paul Govekar, associate professor of management, and Dr. Michele A. Govekar, professor of management, are authors of an article, “The Parable of the Pig Iron: Using Taylor's Story to Teach the Principles of Scientific Management,” published in the Journal of Higher Education Theory and Practice, Vol. 12, Issue 2.

Yoder presents at conference
Dr. John-David Yoder, professor and chair of the Mechanical Engineering Department, is coauthor of a paper presented at the 2012 American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Annual Conference, held June 10-13 in San Antonio, Texas. Yoder has also been named program chair of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Mechanical Engineering Division.

Paper presented at robotics symposium

Dr. John-David Yoder, professor and chair of the Mechanical Engineering Department, co-authored a paper titled "Experiments comparing precision of stereo-vision approaches for control of an industrial manipulator."  Yoder presented the work at the 13th International Symposium on Experimental Robotics June 17-21, 2012, at Quebec City, Canada.

Baja SAE team notches top-five finish at Wisconsin event

The Ohio Northern University Baja SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) team finished fifth overall at Baja SAE Wisconsin 2012, held June 7-10 at the MGA Research Corporation Proving Grounds in Burlington, Wis.

ONU’s Delta Theta chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha received the Anne Winnes Redmond Service Award, and others, at the organization’s 2012 convention, held June 27-July 1 in Louisville, Ky.


Pharmacy students attend Utah School
Dr. Tom Kier, associate dean of pharmacy operations, and three students, Ryan Griffin, Heather Helsel and Julie Zschoche, attended the 61st annual session of the University of Utah School of Medicine's School on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependencies, June 17-22, 2012.
