Abby Ricket receives The Catherine Freed Leadership Award
Abby Ricket, a fifth-year pharmacy student from Pickerington, Ohio, was honored with the 2012 Catherine Freed Leadership Award at Ohio Northern University at a ceremony on May 2. The award, named for the University’s former First Lady Mrs. Catherine Freed, recognizes the outstanding female leader on campus.
An honor student, Ricket is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, the freshman honorary, Phi Lambda Sigma, the pharmacy leadership society, and Rho Chi, the academic honor society in pharmacy.
She is active in the Greek community, serving as an officer in her sorority, recruitment counselor for the ONU Panhellenic Council and vice president of the Order of Omega, which honors Greek leadership. She has served as president of both Mortar Board, the national college honor society, and Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society.
As a pharmacy student, she has attended national programs on chemical dependency and alcoholism, abuse and misuse of prescription drugs and drug testing and has served as a campus resource on these topics. She is also a member of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists and Christian Fellowship International.
Ricket is the daughter of ONU alumni James and Marcia Ricket, graduates of the college of pharmacy.
