Washington Center recognizes ONU as Private University of the Year
The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Programs, an organization that provides college students with the opportunity to work and learn in the nation's capital, has named Ohio Northern University as its Private University of the Year.

David CragoByrne Named ONU Basketball Coach
Kevin Byrne has been named the head men's basketball coach at Ohio Northern University. Byrne comes to Ohio Northern after a four-year stint at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he served as their associate head coach.

ONU honored with Edison Gold Medal as member of KEEN
The Kern Entrepreneurship Education Network (KEEN), a collection of 20 colleges and universities that includes Ohio Northern University, was awarded an Edison Gold Medal in the category of Collaborative Networks and Support on Thursday, April 26. The award was announced during the Edison Awards’ 25th anniversary celebration in New York City.

ONU to host LSAC DiscoverLaw.org PLUS program

The Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law will host 25 students from around the nation for the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) DiscoverLaw.org Pre-Law Undergraduate Scholars (PLUS) Program beginning Monday, June 4.

Road work detours campus traffic

West Lincoln Avenue will remain closed until Sept. 1, 2012, due to the Lincoln Avenue Phase II project. Detour signs have been placed on Main Street directing traffic to the sports and science complexes. Check the campus map for details. 

Summer Sounds Choral Festival
Ohio Northern University is hosting a “Summer Sounds Choral Festival” for elementary-age students (from second to sixth grades) on the campus of ONU from June 25-29.

English Department hosts state conference
On May 4, 2012, ONU’s English Department hosted the College English Association of Ohio Conference in the McIntosh Center. Forty-eight people attended the conference from across the state. A number of ONU faculty and students presented papers. 

Pharmacy alumni, faculty and students recognized at OPA conference
Alumni, faculty and students from the Raabe College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University received numerous awards and honors during the 134rd Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) Annual Conference and Trade Show in Columbus, Ohio, from April 20-22.

Woods presents paper

Dexter Woods, professor of business administration, presented "Pedagogical Pursuits with iPods, iPads, and iPhones: Teacher's Apples or Adam's Apples?" at the 48th Annual MBAA International Conference, March 30, 2012, in Chicago, Ill.

Pitts to teach in Spain
Dr. Jonathan Pitts, associate professor of English, has been selected as a USAC (University Study Abroad Consortium) visiting professor to teach in San Sebastian, Spain, in summer 2013. Dr. Pitts will teach a course for USAC students on the role of popular culture in globalization.

Book review published
Kofi Nsia-Pepra, professor of political science, international relations/comparative politics, is author of a review of Donovan C. Chau's book “Global Security Watch Kenya,” (New York: Praeger, 2010) published in the March-April 2012 issue of US Military Review.

Schul presents research paper
Dr. James Schul, assistant professor of education, recently presented a research paper at the annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association held in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Eleven students from the Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy attended the 2012 National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) Conference on National Legislation and Government Affairs in Washington, D.C., from May 7-10.

Students honored with Dankook Awards
Ohio Northern University presented Dankook Awards to Chelsea Mack, a fall 2011 graduate from Euclid, Ohio, and Nicholas Baker, a spring 2012 graduate from Loveland, Ohio, in a ceremony prior to the undergraduate commencement on Sunday, May 13.

Pharmacy forms student chapter of the Personalized Medicine Coalition
Students in the Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy have formed a student chapter of the Personalized Medicine Coalition (PMC). More than 100 students comprise the newly formed group.

PRSSA team takes second in national contest
ONU's chapter of the Public Relations Student ONU's Society of America (PRSSA) garnered second place in the national 2012 Contiki Vacations Campaign competition.
