Smittle honored for collaborative work

David Smittle, director of ONU’s Advancement Services, has been honored for his work with the Banner system’s advancement applications. He was named by Ellucian (formerly Datatel+SGHE) as one of the 2012 Outstanding Contributors in the company’s consumer collaboration community, The Commons. The 11 winners were nominated by their peers for their contributions in specific user groups.

The Commons, hosted within edu1world.org and powered by the social business platform HiveSocial, has over 100 communities and 200,000 members. The goal is to bring vendors and customers together to improve communication and strengthen relationships.

Ohio Northern has been a customer of Ellucian since 1989 and has been live with the Banner software which powers its alumni database since 1990. Smittle has been with the Office of University Advancement for 25 years. Ohio Northern uses all modules of the Banner integrated administrative software suite which runs on an Oracle relational database.
