Senior journalism major Diego Sandino offers a behind-the-scenes look at Ohio Northern University’s 2012 spring musical, “Thoroughly Modern Millie.”
Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts will present the musical production of “Thoroughly Modern Millie” in the Biggs Theatre from April 19-22 at 7:30 p.m. and April 21-22 at 2 p.m.
“Thoroughly Modern Millie,” a musical based on the 1967 film of the same title, centers on Millie, a small-town girl from Kansas who has recently moved to New York City, and her drive to become a modern-day woman in 1922. The play deals with Millie’s ambition to marry for money instead of love – a modern trend in the 1920s when women were just entering the workforce.

Jimmy Smith is being played by Matthew Rarey, a senior communication arts major from Findlay, Ohio. Miss Dorothy Brown is being played by Mary Beth Donahoe, a senior theatre arts/musical theatre major from Lakewood, Ohio.
