Zachary Dunn awarded Goldwater Scholarship
Ohio Northern University student Zachary Dunn, a senior ACS chemistry and applied physics double major with an astronomy minor and an education concentration, has been selected as a Goldwater Scholar by the trustees of the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation. This marks the eighth consecutive year that Ohio Northern students have received this honor, the premier undergraduate award of its type in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences and engineering.

ONU's American Marketing Association places first in national competition
Ohio Northern University’s American Marketing Association (AMA) took top honors in a Strategic Allocation of Business Resources (SABRE) market simulation competition at the AMA International Collegiate Conference New Orleans on Thursday, March 22. ONU was one of 35 universities that participated in the eight-hour competition, including Ferris State University and Johns Hopkins University, which placed second and third, respectively.

Unite for Awareness Week
The eighth annual “Unite for Awareness Week,” a student-driven initiative to bring attention to issues of discrimination, will be Tuesday, April 10, to Friday, April 13. The theme of this year’s week will be “Look, Listen and Learn.”

Public works project detours campus traffic
West Lincoln Avenue will remain closed until Sept. 1, 2012, due to the Lincoln Avenue Phase II project. Detour signs have been placed on Main Street directing traffic to the College Avenue entrance, down the boulevard and around the loop to reach the sports and science complexes. Check the campus map for details.

Loughlin article published
The article "French Antimilitarism Before World War I: Gustave Hervé and L’Affiche Rouge of 1905" by Michael B. Loughlin, professor of history, has been published in this month's issue of the European Review of History—Revue européenne d’histoire, Vol. 19, No. 2, April 2012, 297–322. Loughlin completed the article as part of his sabbatical in the fall of 2011.

Carrothers quoted
Bob Carrothers, associate professor of sociology, is quoted in an article about post-title riots on Fox Sports.

Speaker to talk about diplomacy and the Middle East
Dr. Trita Parsi, author of “Treacherous Alliance - The Secret Dealings of Iran, Israel and the United States,” Yale University Press, 2007, will speak at 7 p.m., April 24 in the McIntosh Ballroom, presented by Phi Beta Delta and the Committee on Cultural Affairs and Special Events (CASE).

Honors Day, April 28
Tickets are now on sale for the Honors Day banquet, 12:15 p.m., Saturday, April 28 in the Sports Center Field House. Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased at the Academics Affairs office in Lehr memorial, or online.

Pharmacy student awarded Student Leadership Award
Ohio Northern University student Calvin Ice, a fifth-year pharmacy major from Rawson, Ohio, has been chosen as a recipient of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Student Leadership Award. Ice is one of 12 students in the nation to be selected for the award.

Poster presentation selected as outstanding
Sara Ginty, a fourth-year pharmacy student and organizational communication minor from Olmsted Falls, Ohio, presented at the Central States Communication Association Undergraduate Conference last weekend in Cleveland.

Speaker set for April 17
Charles Fax, vice president for Israel Affairs for Jewish National Fund, will speak at 7 p.m., April 17, in the Dicke Forum, sponsored by Phi Beta Delta and ONU’s Department of History, Politics and Justice.

Math Day bring high school students to campus
ONU professors and math majors conducted a symposium on Careers in Math at the 11th annual Ohio Northern University High School Math Awareness Day, held March 27.
