A&SheaderSobotka sworn in as APhA president; ONU receives accolades

Jenelle L. Sobotka, Raabe College of Pharmacy professor and endowed chair, was sworn in as president of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) at its annual conference, APhA2012, in New Orleans from March 9-12. In addition, Ohio Northern University collected numerous individual and chapter accolades at the four-day event, which drew nearly 6,500 pharmacists and student pharmacists from every pharmacy practice setting.

 

Engineering the fight against world poverty Kiosk brings Kroger officials to ONU
Bruce MaCaulay, president of Kroger, joins ONU President Dan DiBiasio to check out the Kroger Shop24 kiosk, which is offering food and other necessities to ONU students and the community. The self-contained, refrigerated, robotic vending machine is the first
in Ohio for the Cincinnati-based retailer.

Public works project detours campus traffic
West Lincoln Avenue will remain closed until Sept. 1, 2012, due to the Lincoln Avenue Phase II project, which calls for the replacement of catch basins along West Lincoln Avenue from Main Street to the ONU Physical Plant. Detour signs have been placed on Main Street directing traffic to the College Avenue entrance, down the boulevard and around the loop to reach the sports and science complexes.

The Ohio Northern University Symphonic Band will present its spring concert on Thursday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.     

 

 

 

Law to host 35th annual Law Review Symposium 

Ohio Northern University's Pettit College of Law presents the 35th annual Law Review Symposium in the College of Law's Moot Court Room on Monday, March 26. The symposium is titled "Perspectives and Distinctions on the Future of Legal Education."   

 

One-act plays See three student-directed one-act plays 

Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts will present three student-directed one-act plays in the Stambaugh Studio Theatre from March 29 to 31 at 7:30 p.m. and March 31 and April 1 at 2 p.m.

 

 

 

ASCE conference features concrete canoe, steel bridge competitions 

Ohio Northern University's Smull College of Engineering will host the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) North Central Regional Conference, in which regional universities face off in a variety of competitions, including concrete canoe and steel bridge building competitions, from March 30-April 1.

  

International Law Society to present discussion about ending Ohio's death penalty 

Ohio Northern University's International Law Society presents "Ohio House Bill 160: The Execution of Justice Bill" in the Pettit College of Law's Celebrezze Moot Court Room on Monday, April 2, at 7 p.m.

The office of Communications and Marketing's design for the Presidential Inauguration invitation won a gold award and the Presidential Inauguration program won a bronze award from the Printing Industries of Ohio and Northern Kentucky Print Excellence Awards

 

Faculty present at National Mathematics Meetings

At the recent Joint National Mathematics Meetings in Boston, Dr. Bill Fuller, associate professor of mathematics, presented a paper on "Modeling thermal propagation along vein walls in endovenous laser treatment." 

Boyadzhiev articles published

Khristo Boyadzhiev, professor of mathematics, has recently published the article, "Series Transformation Formulas of Euler Type, Hadamard Product of Functions, and Harmonic Number Identities," in volume 42 of the Indian Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics.

 

ONU to host 2012 ASEE Section Conference  

Ohio Northern University's T.J. Smull College of Engineering will host the 2012 American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) North Central Section Conference on Friday and Saturday, March 23 and 24.  

 

ONU's Safety Committee Meets
The ONU Safety Committee meets regularly to discuss campus safety concerns. On March 16, 2012, Justin F. Courtney, director of residence life, presented "Safety First" to the ONU Safety Committee. The presentation was developed to more explain the various methods, procedures and training initiatives used by the Office of Residence Life to educate residents and staff about safety on campus.

College of Law to hold Accepted Student Day

The Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law will hold an Accepted Student Day event for incoming students accepted into the fall 2012 class. The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 31.

Polaris, ONU's creative writing magazine, is featured in Paper Darts' coverage of the Association of Writers and Writing Program's (AWP's) national conference.

 

Seniors present at National Mathematics Meetings

At the recent Joint National Mathematics Meetings in Boston, senior mathematics majors Lauren Cassell from Vandalia, Ohio, and Joseph Mileski from Tiffin, Ohio, presented posters as part of the undergraduate poster session sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America.
