‘Tuition Freedom Day’

Ohio Northern University will recognize Tuition Freedom Day on Feb. 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the McIntosh Activities Room. Tuition Freedom Day is the hypothetical day where the University stops running on tuition dollars and begins to run solely by donations from outside parties.

Tuition covers only 65 percent of ONU’s operating costs for the year. The University relies on donations from alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and supporters of Ohio Northern to cover the rest. Tuition Freedom Day was created to educate students about the generosity of donors.

“We want to show students exactly where the extra operating costs come from,” said Kelly Brant, director of annual giving at ONU.

All students and faculty are invited to attend Tuition Freedom Day at their convenience to learn more. Scheduled activities include music, fun facts, food, a video from donors, and a question-and-answer session.
