'Tis the season for music

One venue. Three great concerts.

'Tis the season for amazing music at Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts. Beginning Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m., the ONU Symphony will present two all-time favorites, Beethoven’s "Fifth Symphony" and selections from "The Nutcracker" by Tchaikovsky. It’s a perfect way to celebrate the holidays.

Don't miss the ONU Jazz Ensemble on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m., and warm up your yuletide spirits with some hot big-band jazz.

And finally, join the ONU Wind Orchestra on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 4 p.m., for a Gaudete Sunday program that invites seasonal reflection and holiday joy. It features wind band music composed by Gustav Holst, Charles Marie Widor, Yasahide Ito and Alfred Reed. The program includes a new rendition of "’Twas the Night before Christmas" narrated by ONU’s own John Armstrong, assistant professor of communication arts.
