Larry Robinson gives presentations
Associate Professor of Mathematics and Statistics Laurence Robinson recently gave two presentations.
The first, “Let’s Make a Deal: I’ll Explain’The Monty Hall Problem’ in the Simplest Terms Possible If You Promise to Never Never Bring It Up Again,” was presented at the 39th Miami University Conference on Mathematics in October, 2011. In the paper Robinson explained the history of the Monty Hall Problem and gave a solution of it. Also in October he delivered the paper, “Mathematicians’ Misconceptions of Statistics,” at the fall meeting of the Ohio Section of the Mathematics Association of America at the University of Findlay. In his presentation Robinson discussed the misconceptions of statistics that he has observed among many professors of mathematics.
