Social Studies Day Nov. 11
Ohio Northern University’s Department of History, Politics and Justice will host Social Studies Day in the Forum of James F. Dicke Hall on Nov. 11 at 9 a.m.
Social Studies Day at Ohio Northern will consist of six presentations delivered by ONU faculty to teachers and students from local school districts. The participating ONU faculty members are Robert Alexander, Raymond Schuck, John Lomax, Robert Waters, Jimmy Wilson and James Schul.
Topics will include “Interest Groups in American Politics,” “Protest Music in American History,” “Idea of the Crusades,” “World War I and Veteran’s Day,” “Integrating GIS into the High School Classroom,” and “Documentary Making in the High School Classroom.”
To assist with event funding, Dr. Russ Crawford, associate professor of history at ONU, received an Ohio Humanities Council grant for $1,000. The event also will be supported through funding from the Getty College of Arts & Sciences and the Department of History, Politics and Justice.
Social Studies Day is intended to help practicing social studies teachers earn continuing education units and provide students with a greater appreciation for the social studies.
