ONU high in national ‘best fit’ ranking

Ohio Northern University has been ranked 44th among Liberal Arts Colleges in the nation in the new 2012 Top Choice College Rankings by Parchment Inc.

Town and Gown Banquet, Nov. 7
The 46th annual Ada Town and Gown Banquet will be held in the McIntosh Center ballroom on the campus of Ohio Northern University on Monday, Nov. 7, at 6:30 p.m.

ONU to host estate-planning seminar

Ohio Northern University will host its 17th annual estate business and financial planning seminar at the Pettit College of Law on Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Ohio Northern University to host education speaker

Ohio Northern University’s Center for Teacher Education will host a professional development program for educators, “Including All Learners in a Mixed-ability Classroom,” in the McIntosh Center Ballroom on Nov. 14, 2011, at 7 p.m.

ONU presents 17th Holiday Spectacular
Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the 17th annual Holiday Spectacular in both Ada and Lima. Featuring popular Christmas songs, the production centers on the misadventures of Mrs. Claus and Pixel the elf as they try to help Santa Claus on Christmas Eve.

More than 60 percent of ONU's faculty and staff contributed during this year's Campus Campaign. To celebrate, all faculty and staff are welcome to attend tomorrow's celebration luncheon.

Chronicle of Higher Education
Faculty, staff and students of ONU have access to the online edition of the Chronicle of Higher Education, thanks to the Heterick Memorial Library. The subscription is available at http://0-chronicle.com.polar.onu.edu. On-campus users have direct access to the publication. Off-campus users must enter their name and University ID as a password.

Nsia-Pepra article deals with U.N. peacekeepers
Dr. Kofi Nsia-Pepra, assistant professor of political science, is author of an article appearing in the fall issue of the Peace and Conflict Studies Journal, titled “Robust Peacekeeping? – Panacea for Human Rights Violations.”

Butler conducts in Mexico.
Lloyd Butler, resident artist and music director of ONU’s musical theatre program, recently conducted a concert with the Camerata of San Luis Potosi in Mexico.

Health screenings scheduled
Mark your calendar for the annual ONU health screening for faculty and staff. The screenings, plus flu shots, will be offered Nov. 19. For a complete list of upcoming employee benefit activities, click here.

Nixle.com is now ONU’s Emergency Text Message System
Ohio Northern University emergency text messages are now being delivered through Nixle.com, a free web-based service. ONU emergency text messages are sent by ONU’s Security Department. If you previously signed up for text messages through Luminis, you will need to go to www.nixle.com and create a new account.

PRSSA recognizes ONU at national conference
ONU students and recent graduates were recognized at the 2011 PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) national conference in Orlando, Fla.

Bar pass rate announced
Ohio Northern’s May, 2011, law graduates had a 94 percent passage rate (44/47) on the Ohio Bar Exam. Overall, ONU’s pass rate for graduates taking the exam for the first time was 92 percent (44/48), the second highest of Ohio law schools. The state average was 86 percent. Pettit College point out that the overall class of 2011, which includes December, 2010, and May, 2011 graduates, had a pass rate of 93 percent (51/55) while the state average was 86 percent.

Walk/Run raises $4,000
The 12th Annual Stefanie Spielman Walk/Run for Breast Cancer, organized  by the Ohio Northern Chapters of the Student Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists and Kappa Epsilon, raised more than $4,000 for the James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University. Held Oct. 1, more than 150  participants  braved the cold and rain to show their support for the fight against breast cancer.
