ONU to observe 10th anniversary of 9/11
Ohio Northern University has scheduled several events in observance of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, beginning on Thursday, Sept. 8, with a moment of silence to be observed at the 11 a.m. chapel service in memory of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

Ohio Supreme Court Justice Yvette McGee Brown to speak at ONU

The Ohio Northern University chapter of the Black Law Students Association will host “So You Want to Be A Lawyer: A Question-and-Answer Session with Justice McGee,” on Friday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. in the Celebrezze Moot Court Room.

Panel discussion on heroin, Sept. 12
Ohio Northern University will host a panel discussion on heroin, focusing on demystification and drug counseling, on Monday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. in room 151 of the Robertson-Evans Pharmacy Building.

Musical ‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee’ comes to ONU
The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” on Sept. 15-18 at 7:30 p.m. with two matinee showings on Sept. 17-18 at 2 p.m. Conceived by Rebecca Feldman, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is a one-act musical comedy centering on a fictional spelling bee set in the geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School, where six quirky adolescents compete in a competition run by three equally quirky adults.

'Whose Line is it Anyway?' stars to perform at the Freed Center
Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents "Colin and Brad: Two Man Group," featuring Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood from the hit improvisational show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?," on Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m.


College of Law to cohost Ohio Supreme Court Lecture Series
Albie Sachs, former Justice on the Constitutional Court of South Africa, will share his life story from fighting for freedom and human rights to a seat on his nation's court at the Supreme Court of Ohio’s next Forum on the Law lecture on Sept. 20.

Sign up for fall open houses
Ohio Northern University welcomes high school seniors to campus for a series of four open houses beginning Sept. 24. Prospective students will learn about specific Ohio Northern programs, meet with current students, faculty and staff, and attend informational admissions and financial aid sessions. A complimentary lunch and campus tour also will be provided.

Dr. Eric Baumgartner, dean of the T.J. Smull College of Engineering, was guest speaker, Sept. 2, at the first annual Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering kickoff luncheon at the University of Notre Dame.

SWE spotlights ONU's engineering education degree
SWE, the magazine of the Society of Women Engineers, highlights ONU's new degree program in engineering and education in an article titled "Put the E in STEM" and quotes ONU engineering graduate Bailey Blake, Dean Eric Baumgartner and Dr. Ken Reid, director of freshman engineering. The article says, "A fundamental shift that offers K-12 teacher certification to engineering students is a promising development."

Beginning Oct. 1, all Ohio Northern University emergency text messages will be delivered through Nixle.com, a free web-based service. ONU emergency text messages are sent by ONU’s Security Department.
If you previously signed up for text messages through Luminis, you will need to go to www.nixle.com and create a new account. Existing accounts will not be transferred. Tuition Exchange information session

College of Business Administration conducts student honor code ceremony
Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke of College Business Administration conducted its student honor code ceremony for incoming freshmen on Tuesday, Sept. 6. David Crago, ONU’s interim vice president for academic affairs and dean of the Pettit College of Law, presided over the ceremony.

Study Abroad Fair set
ONU’s Annual Study Abroad Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oct. 14 in the McIntosh Activities Room. Representatives from international education organizations will provide information on various education abroad opportunities. Study is available to ONU students in over 40 countries, covering six continents.
