Freed Center season begins Sept. 3
The Freed Center’s 2011-1012 season begins Sept. 3 with “Doktor Kaboom!” The interactive science comedy show is part of the center’s children’s series.

'Holiday Spectacular' children's auditions set
ONU will hold children's auditions for the annual "Holiday Spectacular" a 6 p.m,. Sept. 25, at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

Zoladz receives research grant

Dr. Phillip Zoladz, assistant professor of psychology, will be researching  ““Effects of Stress on the Retrieval of Emotional and Non-Emotional Words,” with funding from a Psi Chi/Faculty Advisory grant.

International Friendship Family Program seeks volunteers

ONU faculty and staff are invited to be part of the 2011-2012 International Friendship Family Program. This is a chance to help international students learn about live in the U.S.

Santa brings the house down
Richard Gainey, associate professor in electronic media and broadcasting, participated in the taping of the ABC show "Extreme Home Makeover" in Columbus, Ohio, last week. Gainey, a member of FORBS (Fraternal Order of Real Bearded Santas) worked along side over 100 other Santas, Mrs. Claus' and Elves to demolish the house in Columbus on Friday, Aug. 5. The program will air on Dec. 9.

Chapel services begin Thursday, Aug. 25
With the new academic year, chapel service will move to 11 a.m. on Thursdays. Opening speaker will be retiring Chaplain Vern LaSala.

Career and Graduate Fair, Sept. 8
ONU’s Fall Career and Graduate School Fair will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Sept. 8, in the Field House. Organized by the Office of Career Services, the event will allow students to explore career and graduate school options. In addition, faculty members are invited to network with recruiters to learn more about job and internship opportunities either before or after the fair or at the recruiters’ lunch. Two receive Miss West Central Ohio scholarships
Two ONU pharmacy students will receive scholarships through the Miss West Central Ohio Scholarship Program. Elissa McCracken, a second-year pharmacy student from Coldwater, Ohio, won the Miss West Central Ohio crown, Aug. 5, at the Llima Civic and Convention Center. Samantha Hartings, a third-year pharmacy student from Waynesburg, Pa., was second runner-up.
