Zoladz receives research grant
Dr. Phillip Zoladz, assistant professor of psychology, will be researching ““Effects of Stress on the Retrieval of Emotional and Non-Emotional Words,” with funding from a Psi Chi/Faculty Advisory grant.
In his research proposal, Zoladz says research has shown that the temporal relationship between stress and learning mediates the effects of pre-learning stress on memory, but little work has addressed the temporal dynamics of pre-retrieval stress effects on memory. His study tests the hypothesis that, contrary to the dogma that all pre-retrieval stress impairs memory, brief stress administered immediately prior to retrieval will enhance memory.
