ONU tabbed as one of nation’s best by Princeton Review
Ohio Northern University is once again featured as one of the nation’s top schools in The Princeton Review’s annual college guide, “The Best 376 Colleges: 2012 Edition.” ONU also is one of the 153 institutions The Princeton Review recommends in the “Best of the Midwest” section of its website feature, “2012 Best Colleges by Region.”

Law graduate to travel to Kosovo after receiving Fulbright Research Grant

Daniel Bey, a 2011 graduate of Ohio Northern University’s Claude W. Pettit College of Law, has received a Fulbright Scholarship Research Grant. Bey will use the grant to travel to Pristina, Kosovo, for the 2011-12 academic year to develop proposals for changes that better meet the needs of the Kosovo legal profession.

Two professors publish book

“Placing Nature on the Borders of Religion, Philosophy and Ethics,” edited by Forrest Clingerman, assistant professor of philosophy and religion, and Mark H. Dixon, associate professor of philosophy, has been published by Ashgate Publishing.

Zoladz publishes articles, book chapter

Dr. Phillip R. Zoladz, assistant professor of psychology, is the author of three new articles and an upcoming book chapter.

Zank publishes analytical prefaces
Dr. MJ Sunny Zank, professor of music, has published 17 analytical prefaces for Musikproduktion Hoeflich of Muenchen Germany in the pas two years.

Alexander quoted on NPR blog
Dr. Robert Alexander, associate professor of political science, is quoted about Congressman Jim Jordan in an NPR story on federal debt ceiling debate.

ONU to take part in veteran’s seminar
Ohio Northern University will join several other area colleges and universities in the Veteran's Employment and Education Initiative, Aug. 18 at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center in Lima, Ohio.

Law newsletter receives award
The International Anticorruption Committee Newsletter, a publication of the American Bar Association Section of International Law with monthly distribution worldwide, has received the Section's 2011 Outstanding Committee Newsletter Award.

Officer attend Soroptimist convention

Ohio Northern University Security Officer Melissa Taylor-Austin, BA ’04, attended the Soroptimist International Convention in Montreal, “Women: Leaders in Civil Society.” She joined over 1,200 women from more than 60 countries for the inspiring five-day event to learn how best to improve the lives of women and girls, locally and globally. Currently Midwest Region Governor-elect, Taylor-Austin also serves as region program chair.

Pharmacy students named to ASHP advisory group
Two Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy students were appointed to prominent national positions within the student committees of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).

Kappa Epsilon chapter honored at national convention
The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy Kappa Epsilon chapter received the National Projects Excellence award for the 2009-11 biennium and garnered honorable mention honors as Outstanding Chapter of the Year Award for the 2010-11 school year at its annual convention in Phoenix.

SME scholarships awarded
Three seniors in manufacturing technology have been awarded the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Merit/Scholarship Award for 2011-2012.

Student attends leadership academy

Kristi Marquart, a senior in marketing from Dunkirk, Ohio, is taking part in the Lakeside Leadership Academy as a summer group sales/events intern. See page 7.

Alums keep state board on track
Two Ohio Northern graduates, Robert C. Smith, BA '75, BSBA '06, and Mark Palmer, BA '75, BSBA '06, are currently serving on the 11-member board of directors for the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation. Smith serves as chair of the board’s investment committee and Palmer is a member. Smith also serves as vice chair of the audit committee and Palmer is a member of the governance and medical services committees.
