College of Business Administration to launch its first graduate degree program
The James F. Dicke College of Business Administration at Ohio Northern University has announced its first graduate degree program: the master of professional practice in accounting (MPPA). Set to begin in fall 2012, this program will enable accounting professionals to obtain enough credit hours to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam while simultaneously earning a master’s degree in the professional practice of accounting.

Incoming students signal strong 2011 freshman class
Friday, July 8, is the final orientation for incoming ONU students. Karen Condeni, vice president and dean of enrollment, says “the first two orientations held in June saw over 440 students complete registrations. The July 8 event is will add over 190 more students putting advanced registrations over 630, keeping ahead of last year by 9 percent."

ONU makes articulation agreement with North Central State College

Ohio Northern University has established an articulation agreement with North Central State College in Mansfield, Ohio.

Art and design to host 'Berlin to Prague' tour

History, fine art and cultural exploration will combine during a 10-day tour to Germany and the Czech Republic, hosted by Ohio Northern University's Department of Art and Design and scheduled to begin May 16, 2012.

ONU Cedar Point Day, July 30
ONU alumni, students, faculty, staff, friends and families will celebrate summer with the ONU Cedar Point Day, July 30. Special admission prices to the Sandusky amusement park will be available from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park.

Donation benefits Imagination Library

Hardin County children enrolled in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library will benefit from a donation coordinated by ONU’s Office of Residence Life.

Robotic Water-Sampling Boat to Save Time and Money

Dr. J.D. Yoder, associate professor of mechanical engineering and an Ohio Sea Grant researcher, and his team of engineering students are testing an automated boat prototype that will lower the cost of water quality testing. The team took the craft on a trial run in May at Ohio's Grand Lake St. Marys and Yoder plans to continue the project next year, developing the boat into a product for everyday use.

Dr. Estell authors papers
Dr. John K. Estell, professor of computer engineering and computer science, was the lead author of two papers, and coauthor of a third, presented at the 2011 American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Annual Conference, held June 26-29 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.  

Dr. Bird presents paper

Dr. Nathaniel Bird, assistant professor of computer science and computer engineering, was invited to present his paper, “Use of the Arduino Platform for a Junior-Level Undergraduate Microprocessors Course.”

ArtSpace/Lima honors Greavu

"Judith Greavu: A Retrospective" at ArtSpace/Lima features a comprehensive showing of the retired ONU faculty member’s work. The exhibit runs through July 23.

ONU competes in national concrete canoe competition
Ohio Northern University made its fourth national appearance representing the North Central Conference at the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 2011 National Concrete Canoe Competition in Evansville, Ind., from June 16-18.

Textbook rentals come to campus bookstore

This fall, ONU will become part of a select group of colleges/universities offering students a textbook rental program. This opportunity is made possible thanks to a partnership forged between Ohio Northern University administration and the campus bookstore, managed by Barnes & Noble. With textbook rentals, students can realize tremendous savings, paying less than half of what they would to purchase a new, printed textbook.
