Ohio Northern Department of Art & Design to Host “Berlin to Prague” Tour
May—History, fine art and cultural exploration will combine during a 10-day tour to Germany and the Czech Republic, hosted by Ohio Northern University's department of art and design and scheduled for May 16, 2012.
Organized through EF Educational Tours by Brit Rowe, chair and associate professor of art and design, the tour is open to ONU students, alumni and the community. “This is an exciting adventure,” Rowe said. “It is a chance to see the sites and experience the culture and history first-hand.
“We will visit the Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie Museum, the Allied Museum and then travel to Wittenberg, Weimar, Dresden and Prague,” Rowe said. “While in Prague, we will also visit St. Vitus Cathedral, attend a lecture on the Velvet Revolution and visit the Mucha Museum.”
According to Rowe, travelers may choose guided tours, optional excursions or spend their time as they please. “There is free-time built into the schedule. Travelers may choose time on their own or schedule tours with a guide,” he said.
The cost of the tour is about $2,800 per person, which includes round-trip airfare, hotel, all breakfasts and two dinners, museum passes, transportation and transfers, and trip insurance. Optional excursions are extra. Students can receive course credit, but it is not a requirement to travel. Eligible students may receive financial aid to help with these costs.
