Ohio Northern University presents “Paying the Price To Play: a symposium on the Division III Student Athlete Experience” on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the Forum of James F. Dicke Hall.

Area high schools to participate in Street Law competition
Students from four area high schools will compete in the annual Street Law Competition at Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law on Friday, April 15, at 3 p.m. Students from Upper Scioto Valley, Lima Christian Academy, Kenton, and Ada will serve as lawyers and witnesses for a mock criminal case. The event is free and open to the public.

ONU to host Ultimate Frisbee tournament
Ohio Northern University will host the USA Ultimate Frisbee Division III Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Saturday, April 16, and Sunday, April 17.

U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan to speak at Legislative Reception
The student chapter of the National Community Pharmacist Association at Ohio Northern University will hold its first Legislative Reception on Wednesday, April 20, at 4:30 p.m. at the Inn.

Black Law Student Association hosts 12th annual Diversity Forum
The Ohio Northern University Black Law Student Association’s 12th annual Diversity Forum will be held in the ONU Pettit College of Law Moot Court Room on Wednesday, April 20, at 11 a.m.

Unite For Awareness Week
Ohio Northern University will host the seventh annual “Unite for Awareness Week,” a student-driven initiative to bring attention to issues of discrimination, beginning on Wednesday, April 27. The theme for this year’s awareness week is “Don’t H8!”

Heroin to be the topic of panel discussion

Ohio Northern University will host a panel discussion on the effects and use of heroin on local and international scales on Thursday, April 28, at 7 p.m. in the Forum of Dicke Hall.

Broedel-Zaugg takes office as Ohio Pharmacists Association trustee
Kimberly Broedel-Zaugg, R.Ph., MBA, Ph.D., professor of pharmacy practice, was installed as trustee representing District 3 of the Ohio Pharmacists Association at its 133rd annual conference held April 8-10 in Columbus.

Loughlin presents paper
Dr. Michael Loughlin, professor of history, presented a paper on at the Ohio Academy of History’s annual spring conference, April 9, 2011. The title of the paper was “Antimilitarism in France before World War I: Gustave Hervé and the Affiche Rouge  of 1905.”

Tornado awareness month
April is tornado awareness month. The University's outdoor warning siren is tested on the first Friday of each month at approximately noon. If threatening weather is in the area, the test will be canceled. A continuous siren blast sounds when a tornado warning is in effect. The siren will continue to sound until the danger has passed.

Child Development Center accepting enrollment
ONU's Child Development Center is now accepting enrollment for fall. The center offers full day preschool or morning preschool on Tuesday and Thursday, or Monday, Wednesday and Friday. For details contact June Zimmerman or call 419-772-2141.

Learn to swim
Swim lessons will be offered April 3,10,17 and May 1 and 8 by students in the coaching theories of competitive swimming class with proceeds to benefit the ONU men and women's swimming and diving team. Cost is $50. For details, contact j-ewald@onu.edu

Women’s Chorus sets concert
The ONU Women's Chorus will perform its spring concert at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 16, in Presser Hall's Snyder Recital Hall.  A wide range of musical styles will be included in this event, which is free and open to the public.

Gospel Ensemble hosts concert
The Ohio Northern Gospel Ensemble will host its 24th Annual Spring Concert at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 17 in the McIntosh Center main lounge. Members of the music fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, will also take part in a program that includes new music and old favorites. The public is invited to attend the free concert. Brunch will be available for purchase in the University dining room before the event. Desserts will be offered in the main lounge.

Student wins 2011 OSHP Student Scholarship
Ashley Overy, an Ohio Northern University fifth-year pharmacy major from Grafton, Ohio, has won the 2011 Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists (OSHP) Student Scholarship Award.

Run for the Roses, May 1
The annual Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser, Run for the Roses, is now accepting registrations for the May 1 5K walk/run. Runners/walkers can register online or make donations.

Junior All-Americans Kimi Blewett (Carmel, Ind.) and Jackie Mangola (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) launched two home runs apiece to lead the Ohio Northern softball team in a sweep of Heidelberg Tuesday afternoon.
