Student wins 2011 OSHP Student Scholarship

Ashley Overy, an Ohio Northern University fifth-year pharmacy major from Grafton, Ohio, has won the 2011 Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists (OSHP) Student Scholarship Award.

This merit-based scholarship is designed to recognize an outstanding professional student enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy program at an Ohio-based college of pharmacy. Only one award is given out per year on the basis of academic achievements, leadership abilities, professional activities, references and interest in pharmacy.

“I am very appreciative that OSHP has selected me as the winner of this scholarship,” said Overy. “Working with OSHP over the past few years has been a privilege, and I could not have been appointed to both of my ASHP positions without the guidance and support of their members. My hope is that younger students take advantage of the networking opportunities within OSHP over the next few years and apply for this scholarship in the future.”

Overy will be presented with her award by Richard L. Arends, OSHP’s director of professional affairs, during a formal ceremony at the Columbus Crowne Plaza on Thursday, May 5.

Earlier this year, Overy was appointed vice chair of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ Student Forum Executive Committee for the 2011-12 academic year.
