Men’s Chorus begins spring tour

The Ohio Northern University Men’s Chorus will present its seventh annual spring concert tour from March 19-21. The 60-voice choir is under the direction of professor Dennis L. Kratzer, director of choral activities and associate director of opera.

A home concert for the ONU Men’s Chorus is scheduled for Sunday, March 20, at 7 p.m. in Presser Hall.

One of the newest choral ensembles at the University, the Men’s Chorus will present sacred and secular selections, including some repeats from last year’s show: “Touching Shoulders,” “Brothers Sing On,” “Crazy ’Bout Croonin’,” “The Awakening,” “Christopher Columbus” and “Dies Irae.” New selections will include “Walk in Jerusalem,” “If Music Be the Food of Love,” “Prayer for Peace,” “I Believe,” “Mick McGuire,” “Tell My Father,” “Tshotsholoza,” “In the Still of the Night” and “I Carry Your Heart With Me.”

The associate conductor for the choir is Timothy Smith, a senior music education major from Westerville, Ohio. The assistant conductor is Eric Smith, a senior music performance major from Toledo, Ohio. Todd Daquino, a senior music education major from Ashland, Ohio, serves as barbershop specialist. The accompanist for the choir is Adam Fahncke, a senior management major from Wapakoneta, Ohio. He has served in this capacity for five years.

The concert schedule is below. The choir will ask for a free will offering at the churches to help defray costs of the tour.
