Open Doors to host the Rubi Affair for AIDS research

Feb 25, 2011

Ohio Northern University’s Open Doors student organization will host the Rubi Affair in the McIntosh Center activities room on Saturday, March 12, at 8 p.m.

As part of an AIDS research fundraiser for the AIDS Resource Center in Lima, Ohio, Open Doors has invited student groups to send volunteers to dress in drag and perform musical dance numbers on stage. During each performance, audience members will be asked to vote for their favorite groups by making donations. A winner will be selected based on how much each group is able to raise.

The event also will feature the return of professional drag queen group the Rubi Girls.

Open Doors is a student organization at Ohio Northern University that focuses on issues relating to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and questioning people and their straight allies (GLBTQA).

This event is free and open to the public, although donations are strongly encouraged. For more information, contact Sarah Diehm, a sophomore sociology major from Lima, Ohio, and vice president of Open Doors, at s-diehm@onu.edu
