Ohio Northern Students to Help with Tax Preparation

Elderly and low income tax payers in Allen and Hardin counties can find free income tax assistance from Ohio Northern University law and accounting students through VITA: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance.

The students are offering e-filing services at several local locations during tax season. The following areas will be open at the designated times and staffed with student volunteers who are certified by the IRS. The sites are open until March 31 (excluding the week of Feb. 24-March 3):

  • ACCENT in Lima, Allen County, Ohio, Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
  • Hardin County Council on Aging, Kenton, Hardin County, Thursdays from 1- 4 p.m.
  • Hardin County Public Library, Kenton, Hardin County, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Ada Public Library, Hardin County, contact library for days and times.

Taxpayers interested in using this service should bring their Social Security card, driver's license or other form of identification, all forms sent from the IRS this year, W2 forms, any other pertinent income statements and copies of tax returns for the past two years, if available.
